STELLENBOSCH: 18 JUNE 2026
The Art of Leadership: Developing Leaders for Innovation and Impact
Book now to join Stellenbosch Business School for a special Youth Month edition of Leaders Angle on The Art of Leadership: Developing Leaders for Innovation and Impact.

This fireside chat will explore how leaders are developed for innovation, impact and complexity. Through real leadership stories from creative, community, corporate and institutional contexts, the conversation will reflect on leadership as a lived practice, shaped by identity, courage, self-awareness and the ability to create value beyond themselves.

In a world marked by uncertainty and disruption, leadership development needs to go beyond skills, titles and performance. It must also develop the capacity to lead with purpose, navigate complexity and contribute meaningfully to organisations, communities and society.

Facilitated by Dr Natasha Winkler-Titus, Senior Lecturer and Programme Head: Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership Development at Stellenbosch Business School, the session will create space for a thoughtful and engaging conversation on what it means to develop leaders who can flourish through disruption and contribute to a better world.

Each speaker will bring a distinct lens to the theme: Schalk Joubert will share an impact story shaped by creative leadership; Jana Retief will bring a youth voice and community-impact perspective; Prof Shirley Zinn will reflect on the art of leadership through her extensive leadership journey; and Ruby Leoni Gelderbloem will contribute an institutional partner perspective from the City of Cape Town.

The Art of Leadership is grounded in the idea that leadership, like art, cannot be reduced to a formula. It requires craft, reflection, courage and a distinctive voice.

It asks us to move beyond the question of what a leader knows, and towards deeper questions: Who is this leader becoming? How do they show up? What does their leadership make possible for others?

This Youth Month edition will explore leadership as a transformational journey, one that begins with the self and moves outward to teams, organisations, communities and society.
