JOHANNESBURG: 02 JULY 2026
Leading Across Cultures in a Polycrisis World
Navigating today's polycrisis world requires leaders to manage overlapping pressures, including economic instability, social inequality, climate risk, and rapid technological change.

In this environment, Multicultural Intelligence (MCi) has become a critical business capability. It enables leaders to interpret complex cultural dynamics, align diverse teams, and make sound decisions in the face of uncertainty. Frameworks such as Erin Meyer's Culture Map, Fons Trompenaars and Charles Hampden-Turner's Dimensions of Culture, and the Cultural Intelligence (CQ) Framework provide practical tools to reduce misalignment, strengthen collaboration, and improve execution across markets. Leaders who apply MCi are better positioned to manage risk, unlock diverse perspectives, and sustain performance in volatile conditions.

Overview

There is growing demand for leadership frameworks rooted in regional realities, not just Western models. Multicultural Intelligence (MCi) enables leaders in African markets to adapt global approaches to local contexts aligning strategies with community values, navigating hierarchy and collectivism, and leveraging informal networks. Grounded in concepts like Sankofa, Seriti, and Omoluwabi, MCi promotes accountability, identity, and ethical leadership. Applied effectively, it helps leaders build context-relevant strategies that strengthen alignment, improve execution, and support sustainable growth.
